Repeat Prescriptions

For safe prescribing, our reception team cannot take medication requests over the phone.
If you take medicine regularly, you will usually have a repeat prescription. This means you can request your medication when you need it, without seeing a GP each time.
You will need to see a GP for a medication review when this is due.
How to Order Repeat Prescriptions
MEDICINE WASTAGE
Please avoid medicine wastage, only order the repeat medication you need. Think before you tick the box, Do I really need to order it?
Online
Patients can request repeat prescriptions through PatientAccess or the NHS App. If a patient has already nominated a pharmacy, prescriptions will be sent there. If not, they will be sent to the practice to be picked up. Doing it online will help minimise your trips to the Practice – only one visit is needed to collect the prescriptions, and allows you to avoid queues and busy telephone lines.
By Hand/Post
After the doctor authorises your repeat prescription, you will be given a prescription slip. Tick the items you require on the slip - or - write it on a piece of paper. Then either post it or drop it in the postbox outside the surgery. If you want the prescription posted back please enclose a stamped addressed envelope.
Electronically
This GP practice offers the Electronic Prescription Service, which allows you to choose or “nominate” a pharmacy to get your medicines or appliances from.
Your GP then sends your prescription electronically to the place you nominated. To register for requesting your repeat medication electronically please bring in photo ID to Reception and your access will be activated.
Where do I collect my prescriptions?
Nominated Pharmacy
You can choose a pharmacy or dispenser to dispense all your prescriptions. When you get a prescription, it will be sent electronically to the dispenser you have chosen. You can collect your medicines or appliances without having to hand in a paper prescription.
Any Pharmacy through Paper Prescriptions
When you are issued a prescription, you will be given a paper copy that you can take to any pharmacy or other dispenser in England. The paper copy will contain a unique barcode that will be scanned to download your prescription from the secure NHS database.
